I’m Janice, a tattoo artist shaped by a lifelong relationship with art. I’ve been painting since 1989 and tattooing since 2008, carrying decades of creative practice into every piece I place on skin. Art, for me, has always been about connection—between image and emotion, memory and meaning.

I work in both black & grey and color, moving fluidly across styles and subjects. I’m drawn to pet and people portraits, gothic and ornamental work, geometric forms, traditional and neo-traditional tattooing, Fine line, Bold lines, nature, Asian-inspired art, florals, tribal designs, and thoughtful cover-ups. Whether your idea is fully formed or still finding its shape, I enjoy helping it unfold into something lasting and true to you.

I believe the tattoo process should feel calm, respectful, and supportive. I approach each session with gentle patience and careful listening, creating space for you to feel at ease. Drawing from a deep inner library of imagery, cultural art, design, and history, I translate feelings and stories into tattoos designed to age beautifully and live with you over time.

Every session is guided by your comfort. Silence or conversation, long sittings or shorter sessions—there’s no one right way to be tattooed. When working at my Berkeley location, I offer snacks and drinks to help create a warm, grounded, and welcoming environment.

My foundation in painting has taught me how light, tone, and texture create depth and emotion. My digital art experience allows me to thoughtfully refine and finalize designs with clarity and precision, helping the process feel focused, intentional, and aligned from start to finish.

    Getting a tattoo is a collaborative journey. From consultation to aftercare, Janice guides you through every step of the process to ensure you receive a tattoo you’ll love forever.

    Consultation

    It’s free of charge to discuss your ideas and preferences with Janice or Jessie to create a unique design that suits your vision and personality. No pressure to book.

    Booking

    Once you are ready to book the tattoo appointment choose a date and time. A $100 – $200 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your spot. Deposit is deducted from the last session of tattoo.

    Tattoo Preparation

    We ask that you are physically and mentally prepared for your session. Be sure to eat a balanced meal at least one hour before. Wear comfy clothes and layers as it gets cold in the shop. Feel free to bring headphones and a small blanket.

    Tattoo

    Janice carefully applies the tattoo, using her expertise to bring the design to life while ensuring your comfort throughout the session. If you wish to use numbing cream prior please discuss with her first. There is a process and certain tattoos this works for.

    Aftercare

    Receive detailed instructions on how to care for your new tattoo to ensure proper healing and long-lasting results. Janice offers second skin options or a cling film (suran wrap) bandage.

    Follow Up

    Schedule a follow-up appointment to check the tattoo’s healing progress and touch up any areas if necessary. All work is guaranteed for 3 months following the application and a complimentary touch up is included in the price of the tattoo.

    Yes, Janice does cover-up tattoos. They may take a little extra time but can yield beautiful results. You should send her photos of the tattoo you want to cover up.

    Expect professional service, open communication, and a personalized experience catered to your needs. Janice values interaction with her clients to create artwork they will adore.

    Janice often uses color for pet portraits and especially cover up projects. She is happy to discuss your color tattoo ideas. She does not reccomend numbing for color tattoos.

    Janice’s approach leans more towards an illustrative style. While she offers portraits and imagery with a 3-D look, they will have her unique artistic touch.
